More likings

Nearly forgot, I also have a huge respect for and help support our Armed Forces. Through my hobby of target shooting, I organised a charity shoot for help4heroes. This was a great day lots of youngsters getting good disciplined instruction on the safe use of firearms and enjoying doing so.

The Beginning.

Okay day one of this blog business.
I'm hoping the spellcheck works or sadly, you the reader, may think I'm a rabbling fool, maybe the addition of a spellcheck won't deter that.
These blogs seem to start with a bit of an autobiography so here's about me.
What I like:-
Michelle my wife since 2002 (not that I didn't like her before we got married, that's just our anniversary).
Cats, we lost Gizmo our ten year old last year to heart disease, Madison is now sixteen and currently being very picky about food. To the point we are having to syringe high vitamin and protein food into her. She doesn't seem to hate us for it at the minute and she's sat on our bedroom windowsill as I type this catching the rays.
My work, I love engineering, I don't always like my employers but repairing and making machines move really gives me a buzz. I'm mainly electrical and control biased but happy fabricating, using machines such as lathes and millers, welding, getting covered in hydraulic oil :-( and general tinkering. I've also got a thing for tools, if possible always the right tool for the job.
Art, not modern crappy Damien Hirst or an unmade bad. I like pictures of concepts drawn on paper or board, I'm not against digital aids in developing concepts but I think free thought is best realised with pen/pencil on paper without the urge to borrow earlier designs or inspirations and the dreaded cut and paste. Urban sketching idea really appeals to me, mainly because I can't draw trees. My favourite subjects are architecture and of course machinery.
